Law of Attraction and Aging

"You're not getting any younger, you know."
Ahem.

These words probably make the top ten list of "How to Spoil Sunday with Your Girlfriend."

I said to Russ, "Look, these are words you should never say to ANY woman you want to sleep with, let alone the one who doesn't believe in aging."

"You don't believe in aging?" He said it more than asked it. Like he was confirming just how crazy his girlfriend was.

"Well, I'm trying NOT to. That's my point. Hearing it from you doesn't help. I want to escape that old mentality. I want to grow younger and get healthier and better looking every day."

"'Old mentality,'" he repeats. "Honey, aging is a fact." (As if I were an eight year old that he was breaking the news to about the Tooth Fairy.) "It's what happens. You can't stop it. You can't stop time."

Well, with any hope of a friendly romantic encounter shot to smithereens, I let him have it.

"All right, let's go over this again." And I ran him through the principles of deliberate creation a-frickin-gain. We get what we think about. There are no rules out there. There are no limitations. If we can imagine it, we can have it. There isn't any reason we should be aging, other than that the whole of society has bought into it, and I'm opting out.

"You're opting out of aging," he says, not even trying to mask the laughter in his voice.

"Yeah, I am. And I guarantee I'm not doing it so I can hang out with some decrepit old guy, so I would rethink my position on this, if I were you."

I tell him I'm not the only one thinking this. That others are on board with this same idea. LOTS of others. I don't know how many, but I know I'm not alone. I've been trained by one of them. (Ron Zeller, who is a stand for ageless living. His wife, who is known as Ninja Grandma. Not to mention all the yogis who are known for good health in the upper echelons of birthdays.)

And while I'm telling him that, I'm thinking of the enormous vibrational escrow of all those people all those years who desperately wanted good health and great looks in their later years. Oh yeah, I'm tapping into THAT party!

So, Russ agrees not to argue with my beliefs, and swears I will never again hear him say, "You're not getting any younger."

As he's making breakfast (making fun of my brown $4 cage-free eggs and rice milk), I find two emails in my in-box related to law of attraction and aging. Or anti-aging, I should say. Thank you, Universe, for backing me up!

I march out of the office with news of the two articles that were waiting for me this morning. "I am not alone," I repeat to him with conviction.

"That's nice, honey." He's clearly made peace with having a crazy girlfriend.

And I'm gearing up for making peace with having a 30 year old boyfriend in my last years of life. Maybe he could have an accent, too. Olive skin. Gorgeous smile. (We'll see who has the last laugh, Mr. Smart Guy.)

Just to nail this vibration down, I'm thinking about turning 27 this year. I've turned 27 a couple of times now, and have enjoyed it every time. It's a good year. I thought about earlier twenties, but they seemed a little shallow. 30's seemed a little heavier. So I'm going with carefree, optimistic, fabulously healthy and fit, got-my-whole-life-ahead-of-me 27.

I really really like my girlfriend's girlfriend who doesn't know how old she is (really, she doesn't know! She doesn't keep track!), and my former coach who would flat out lie (and feel great about it) when someone asked her age. I'm letting go of what it "means" to age as well. It doesn't mean anything; it's not who I am; and I just get better with every day that passes.

That's what I'm manifesting with the law of attraction. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. Because I know it's possible. And I pick it. Period.

Yes, it might feel like a stretch today, but as I spend more time with it, and more time with articles and people lined up with it, it'll become more and more mine. Watch me go!

PS - here's a link to those two articles I mentioned. We're SO turning the "rules" upside down!

  2. Right on! That's just what I needed! My mother has been telling me since I was 20 that my ovaries were going moldy - time to ditch that line of thinking!

I am now a born again 23 year old. Cool!!!!!

  3. I was watching the tail end of a movie this afternoon that starred Maggie Smith. I was thinking how incredible beautiful she is, with lines on her face and a creaky voice she just has something that is captivating, enchanting and feminine.
How beautiful women are in all their seasons.
I wore the same outfit and a girlfriend told me how lovely I looked and my husband asked if I was going to wear that outfit in public because it didn't suit my body type. Interesting, same person, same outfit.
So here is my suggestion to all of you - don't change a thing about yourself - age - hair, eyes, smile: You are perfect, you are beautiful - Just hang out with others who know and sees this as well.

  5. Are you familiar with a small book called Ancient Secret of The Fountain of Youth by Peter Kelder?
It has five ancient Tibetan exercises that work with the chakras and are suppose to keep you young.
You have inspired me to revisit the exercises. I was introduced to them years ago by my friend Jenny who at the time was faithfully doing them. She had an undeniable ageless glow about her!

  6. Although I am a guy, I do feel like you do... only my example is with my hair. It is getting to become white despite just entering my 40s.

So I do need a new way of thinking about it! :)

  7. If I didn't know how old I was I'd have to guess I'm 32. I have a friend who says "that number is unlisted" when asked for her age.
I'm in great health and I look good, so why not stick to that ?
Thanks for another great insight !

  8. On the other hand, since the universe doesn't hear "not", perhaps he was actually vibrating "you're getting younger..."

  9. Great post!

Until I turned 30 (a few years ago) everyone told me I was "Just a Baby." I am going to stay 30 for the rest of my life. I am young but not a baby.

Thank you, for sharing and I believe you are 27 from your picture, definitely not over 30!

    Best Wishes,
    Christy

  10. Okay, John, your comment is just making me laugh out loud. Nice thought there. Thanks for the laugh!

And Zoe and Wendy - I love your plans! woo hoo! Nice to have great company! I'm skipping menopause too, now that you mention it. Or it will be so mild I hardly even notice it.

Abundance - gray hair is SEXY! No need to change that! (IMHO)

Leslie, thanks for the reference material. I think I've heard of it, but I want to read it just to amp up my belief that this is completely do-able.

I also like your post about appreciating and loving what IS. Undoubtedly as we do that, we attract more to appreciate and love about our physical selves. Which we didn't need, because we already loved it just as is. :)

  11. Crys, I LOVE your friend's "That number's unlisted" response! ha ha! The BEST! Thanks for sharing!

And that's one of my favorite magnets on the fridge: "How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?" (With a picture of a nun playing with a ping pong paddle.)

Albert Einstein has a great quote about age meaning nothing, too. Can't remember it now ...

  12. Are you kidding me white hair is awesome!!!! And John you are fabulous - there is truly no such word as not, so Jeannette is indeed growing younger.
And white haired dudes are growing sexier...by the minute!
We get to write the book!

  13. you should change the title from "law of attraction AND AGEING" to something like "PROLONGED YOUTH and the law of attraction" if you believe in the law of attraction you will see what you're attracting with the present title!

  14. You're right, Rob. After search engines have picked this up with the more likely searched title, I'm doing exactly that!

  15. Christy, I love that! "Young, but not a baby"! That pretty much captures what I'm manifesting as well. Youth, without sacrificing the wisdom and experience. Nicely said!

    Thanks for posting, Christy!

  16. I could have done so much more during my fifties, so with my 60th birthday coming up this year, I'm going to send out invitations to my 50th birthday. That'll confuse those who came to my fiftieth ten years ago, but that's their problem, not mine - they'll just think they're getting old and forgetful!

  18. Right on Jeannette! I have learned how a belief can turn into a life of its own! When I was around 12, a lady in her 60's pinched my cheek and told me I had a beautiful smile but "those smile lines were going to turned into wrinkles one day!" What?? Why was she projecting onto me that belief? If I had known what I do know, it would have saved me years of creating more wrinkles on my face and friends reminding me to "stay out of the sun". I knew it was getting out of control when I was not only noticing my wrinkles but everyone else's. ugh! This is definitely not fun or beneficial. Time to stop this madness. Can you believe this gremlin frequently stayed with me into my thirties? I have come along way in keeping it at bay and when that wrinkle belief stops in to say hi, I just look in the mirror and see evidence of a face of a person that has fun, is enthusiastic about life and smiles alot!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ha! I love it, Barb! What a great birthday to do twice! Surely that one's worth a number of repeats!

And Chair, I'm totally with you about what those smile lines say about a person. All good! I know people who have manifested away those lines, but honestly, I kind of like them!

  20. Love the post and all the comments! I love the surprise on people's faces when I tell them I'm 42 (really I am). Everyone says I don't look it and they thought I was in my early to mid 30's. I love looking younger than my age and I'm going for everyone thinking I'm 10 years younger.

  21. I love all the great company we have in manifesting youth! Thanks for posting, Thauna! There's surely no better source of "feel good" than that look of surprise on someone's face when you say your real age. lol That's the best!

  22. My passport is telling me that exactly 2 months from today I should be 40... and worrying about this actually made me recently discover my first grey hair.. But hey, after reading Jeannette's article; my chosen age is now 26! Funny how after deciding my chosen age I feel so different already :-)
    Life is fun :-)
    Cheers, Nick

  23. By the way, the first grey hair I mentioned, that is not as in the multiple sense of the word, it is only just one single grey one !
It probably just appeared there by accident :-) Thought I just make that clear lol

  24. Jeanette, I just came across your blog and I really really love it. And as far as aging goes, something must be working because I saw your age in your profile and thought, "WHAT!!!???" No way. So, you've been doing something right all along, judging by your beautiful pics.

You rock. Love your blog. I check it every day now. Also, your job sounds AWESOME. Really...awesome. The best job out there. Attraction Coach? I wish I could afford you (or, you know, rent) but I would love to guide people on the LOA track. It's amazing how with other people it's really easy to see it happen...not so easy with yourself, of course!

    Cheers,

  27. Sonora forwarded this relevant quote from Abraham:

"The majority have been programmed from their past experience to expect physical decline. And while it is something they don't want, they are programmed to expect it. And so, they're going to get what they expect. It's not that what they expect is the reality that everyone lives, but that everyone lives the reality of what they expect."

  29. Jeannette,
I am reaching the end of my 40's and people still think I'm in my early 30's. The 40's have been awesome, the best years so far!!

I just wanted to share with you a belief that I am working on. "I believe my body does not have to age just because I get older." I say this to myself often.

Hey it seems to be working!!

    Hugs
    Roxann

  30. Roxann, I LOVE all the company we've got in creating a new consciousness (aka thought pool) in enjoying our long lasting healthy prime! We're creating a new mass consciousness! woo hoo!!

  31. I've always thought that you are as young as you think. With only a few days till my birthday I was wondering why I am feeling blue, then I realized it was because of my upcoming birthday & that I did this last year too. So, when I go all year long thinking & feeling young, why do I feel blue a few days before my birthday?
Thank You to all of the wonderful posts above. They have inspired me. I am now "younger than springtime".

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thanks for your post, Joanna (and happy upcoming birthday)! I got goosebumps reading your "younger than springtime" mantra. I love it!

I heard Abraham say something about aging since I wrote this post that's inspired me to feel differently about it.

I used to think that I wasn't buying into the whole "aging" thing, and I was following my first LOA coach's lead who picked the age she wanted to be and embraced it fully.

But after hearing Abraham say we can't stop the aging process, because aging is what happens as time passes. But what we CAN stop (or not buy into) is what we think the aging process means.

So it's no big deal that I'm 39, I figure. Nothing wrong with 39. 39 is actually a GREAT age. I don't have to pretend to be 27 or whatever other body-age I think would be better.

What I'm letting go of is what I think (and others think) it means to be 39, approaching 40. You know what I mean?

My favorite lotion these days is Dove's pro-age body lotion. I love reading it right on the bottle every morning: "pro-age." Not anti age. Not pushing against. But embracing. Aging.

I don't know! Still playing with it!

Thanks again for posting, Joanna. Nice to meet you!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hi again,
The "younger than springtime" was from one of the posts above. I love it too!
I'm turning 43 & many people have commented that I sure don't look or act like I'm that age. They say I even look younger than my mate who is 6 years younger than me. I am very thankful for these comments because 99% of the time I wholeheartedly feel that much younger too.
I love LOA & look forward to getting your newsletters.
    Thank You.

  34. And here I was dating older guys because I enjoyed how young that made me feel. lol

    Did I have it backwards!?

Just kidding - it's all WITHIN. We know that.

But I'm still smiling at the thought of people looking at my boyfriend who looks a LOT older than me (golfer who doesn't wear sun screen) and raising their eyebrows about how he's dating someone young enough to be his daughter. I'm not (young enough to be), I just like to think I look it. lol

We can be so funny about age, huh?! What a fun topic.

  35. I love this! I am a 63 three years young writer. Last year I started my own publishing business, and just a few weeks ago, the second in The Madd Irishman Cookbook series came out.

When I get the "you're not getting any younger," I simply say, "No matter where you are on your journey, or what "age" you are, you still have your whole life ahead of you. Do something you love even if it's a little scary, get out of your comfort zone, and feel the joy!

  36. Wonderful outlook, Marianne! Thanks for sharing it here.

I fully agree that we have our best years ahead of us, and that as we know that, we experience it.

    Congrats on your publishing business!

  37. I can't have faith in this Abe stuff, I've seen channellers in action and never once saw one that seemed like it was anything other than their own subconsious at work. I think that the genetic consciousness that believes in aging, may be responsible, so that abe quote, the first one, above, rings true, but the later one does not, as I do not believe that age _has_ to occur but people see it happening to everything else so they expect it too, this is what we need to overcome. I want to see old people in their eighties looking like teenagers, I want to live in a world where old grannies can have pretty young boyfriends, no older than around 22 thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I found this today as I was searching for non ageing quotes as my birthday is coming up (calender age 41).

I believe 110% in what you said ! It's how I live my life !

By the way, everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) thinks I'm in my late 20's when they meet me !

    ReplyDelete
  39. Sounds great. But I seem to have gone the other way - from looking 16 when I was 30...to looking more my real age at 40. How do I turn this around

    ReplyDelete
  40. When people say that you cannot do this or that, they’re actually saying that they can’t do it. I believe that if you want something strong enough, you will achieve it.
I also believe that in 100 years from now, kids will learn in school that back in the past people were actually dying of old age. And they will have a good laugh.
I believe that I’m 21, I act like I’m 21 and I don’t believe that I’m going to get old and die. Immortality is what I’m after.
